Join us at Kalamazoo State Theatre for a double feature event of the 2014 film “Take Me to the River,” followed by a live performance featuring some of the artists from the film.
Documentary:
Directed by Martin Shore & named after the Al Green classic, this documentary is a celebration of the musical influence of Memphis, paying tribute to old-school blues and R&B masters as they work with hip-hop artists of today, bridging the communication gap between generations. This feature film follows them through the creative process of recording a new album to reimagine and merge time-honored and newer idioms. Featuring Terrence Howard, William Bell, Snoop Dogg, Mavis Staples, Otis Clay, Lil P-Nut, Charlie Musselwhite, Bobby “Blue” Bland, Yo Gotti, Bobby Rush, Frayser Boy, The North Mississippi All-Stars and many more.
